Eugène, an Acadian, born in Stanley, New Brunswick and Marilyn Bourque from Hamilton, Ontario, met and married while still in their “teens” 45 years ago. They have three wonderful children and seven fantastic grandkids.
Along their life’s journey, they enjoyed many career experiences such as musician, teacher, child and youth worker, crane operator, farmer, foster parents, and business owners.
It was during the time that they operated their 100 acre farm Bed and Breakfast in the tiny rural hamlet of Acadie Siding, Kent County, New Brunswick that Plates 4 U began its development. As an artist who decorated the Bed and Breakfast with many of her own works, Marilyn was flattered by the number of guests who asked to purchase the “plates” that decorated the walls and tabletops. After two years of market testing, and with the support and enthusiasm of family and friends, Plates4U evolved into a one of a kind cottage industry with Marilyn as sole proprietor.
The plates appeal to the artistic nature of those clients who enjoy the Canadian Maritime and Acadian style of hand painted artwork.
